Omdia has recently published an industry report under the title "Telecom Billing Vendor Survey: Cloud Nativeness, Pre-integrations, and Time to Deploy".
This survey was based on 19 billing system vendors, including Lifecycle Software, addressing CSP issues and cloud-native implementation.
Inside this report you can find where most of the billing software vendors claim and state their solutions: in general, you will find that most of them claim that their solutions are cloud-native and state that they run on the public cloud, except for three that said they run in a private cloud. Most vendors also claim to offer SaaS, but they note little demand.
Another topic that is covered in this survey is the typical time to implement a billing solution: the majority state that it takes between to 2–6 months. To accelerate deployment, many vendors have pre-built integrations with third-party systems such as charging and CRM. Some claimed as many as 25 pre-built integrations while others said they had none, potentially leaving their customers exposed to expensive integrations.
The report is useful to telecom operators considering buying a new billing system as the results highlight areas where there is a divergence in the capabilities of solutions and hence where their requests for information should focus.
